Purpose of the application
Varkuna Rename is a desktop application for batch file renaming and copying files with new names.
User responsibilities
Use the app only with files and folders you are authorized to access and modify. Before starting an operation, check:
- The selected files and whether subfolders are included
- The new names shown in the preview and the file order
- The choice between in-place renaming and copying
- The destination folder and folder-preservation options
- Name conflicts and other operation warnings
File operations and backups
In-place renaming changes the names of existing files. Copy mode preserves the originals and creates copies with new names in the same or another folder. Back up important files before processing them.
Changes to file names or paths can affect access from other programs. If an operation does not complete, review its results and the current state of the files before continuing.
Undo
Undo applies to the last in-place rename operation. Copy operations cannot be undone; this feature does not delete the copies created.
Undo depends on access to the files under their resulting names and locations. Changes such as moving or deleting files in another program can prevent undo. It should therefore not be used as a substitute for a backup.
File extensions
The options to preserve an extension or change only its letter case affect the file name. They do not convert file contents or format.
Acceptable use
Do not use the app to modify other people’s files without authorization or to damage their data. The user must have permission to perform the requested file operations.
Updates
Optional version checks retrieve version information from Varkuna. The app does not download an installer or install updates during this check. Microsoft Store manages installation and updates of the Store edition.
Features and usage information may change with new versions. Current release notes and terms of use are published on the Varkuna website.
