What are Varkuna products used for?

Varkuna products are built to make everyday system administration tasks such as remote server connections, terminal access and file transfers easier through a cleaner interface.

Are Varkuna Connect and the Android apps the same product?

No. Varkuna Connect is a desktop connection hub. Varkuna SSH and Varkuna FTP are Android applications focused on separate usage scenarios.

What is the difference between the help pages and the FAQ page?

The FAQ page is for short answers. The help pages include more detailed usage guides, connection explanations and troubleshooting notes for each product.

Which connection types does Varkuna Connect support?

Varkuna Connect is built to manage SSH, Telnet, FTP, FTPS and SFTP connections in a single desktop application.

Which platforms can Varkuna Connect run on?

Varkuna Connect is planned for Windows and Linux desktop systems. Published releases and download options are shown on the product page.

Are SFTP and FTP the same thing?

No. FTP and FTPS are file transfer protocols. SFTP is a secure file transfer protocol that runs over SSH. It usually works over SSH port 22, but the port may differ depending on the server configuration.

Is Telnet secure?

Telnet is an older terminal protocol and does not encrypt traffic. It should only be used when truly required and on trusted networks. SSH should be preferred whenever possible.

Does Varkuna Connect support Turkish and English interfaces?

Yes. Varkuna Connect is built with Turkish and English interface support.

Varkuna SSH

What does Varkuna SSH do?

Varkuna SSH is built to connect to remote servers from an Android device and run terminal commands.

When should I use Quick Connection?

You can use Quick Connection when you want to test a server without saving it. For frequently used servers, creating a saved connection is more practical.

What does the server key warning mean?

The server key helps verify the identity of the server you are connecting to. You may see a warning on the first connection or when the server key changes. For unexpected changes, it is recommended to confirm the key with your server administrator.

What are saved commands used for?

You can save frequently used terminal commands and run them faster when needed.

Varkuna FTP

Which connections does Varkuna FTP support?

Varkuna FTP is built to manage files from an Android device through FTP and FTPS connections.

What should I do if FTP connects but the file list does not appear?

Passive mode, firewall rules, hosting-side port restrictions or FTP server settings may be involved. Check the server details and the FTP settings provided by your hosting company.

What should I do if I receive an FTPS certificate warning?

When you receive a certificate warning, make sure the server address is correct. For unexpected certificate changes, it is recommended to confirm the certificate with your hosting company or server administrator.

What is CHMOD used for?

CHMOD is used to manage file and folder permissions on Linux-based servers. Incorrect permissions may affect the operation or security of a website.

Privacy and security

Are my connection details sent to Varkuna servers?

Connection details are sent to the remote server selected by the user in order to establish the connection. Varkuna Connect does not send saved connection profiles, passwords, key file paths or server details to Varkuna servers.

How are passwords protected in the Windows version of Varkuna Connect?

In the Windows version, passwords that the user chooses to save and optional passphrase information entered for SSH key files are encrypted using Windows DPAPI and tied to the current Windows user account.

Does the app copy my SSH key file?

No. Varkuna Connect does not copy the SSH key file. The connection profile may only use the path of the key file and, if the user chooses, optional passphrase information.

Can I delete saved data?

Yes. Saved connections and application data can be removed from the options provided by the relevant app or by clearing the application data area on the device.
